WELCOME TO MISSION HILLS COMMUNITY PRESCHOOL

OUR PRESCHOOL FOCUSES ON SOCIAL, EMOTIONAL DEVELOPMENT

Missions Hills Community Preschool is a play-based preschool in San Diego that supports and nurtures children as they construct their own learning, knowledge, and beliefs about the world. We draw inspiration from the Reggio approach, and incorporate our favorite aspects of Waldorf and Montessori, as well.

At MHCP, we foster critical thinking and process-oriented exploration. Perhaps most importantly, we guide and support children as they learn to develop peaceful conflict-resolution skills.

OUR BELIEFS

We believe that children are naturally curious, creative, and capable. As educators, our role is to provide support as children explore and learn. We encourage inquiry-based/child-led learning. We focus on:

Conflict
Resolution

MHCP staff models and teaches skills that enable children to resolve their conflicts peacefully and with kindness.

Nurturing
Wonder

We nurture the childrens’ sense of wonder and appreciation for nature and all living creatures.

Constructivist Knowledge

Supporting children as they construct their own learning/knowledge about the world is woven into every day at MHCP.

Inquiry-
Based

We use inquiry based, child-led learning where staff encourages children to work together with respect.

Critical
Thinking

By encouraging children to think critically and find creative ways to solve problems they grow.

Social Emotional Emphasis

At MHCP, social emotional learning is key. We work to foster a sense of compassion, empathy, and belonging.
